I can remember when KATE SMITH sang, “GOD BLESS AMERICA.”
God bless America,

From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam

God bless America, My home sweet home.”
September 11, during a live broadcast on the evening of the September 11 attack, following addresses by then-House and Senate leaders Dennis Hastert and Tom Daschle, members of the United States Congress broke out into an apparently spontaneous verse of “God bless America” on the steps of the Capitol building in Washington, D.C.
God bless America was written by Irving Berlin in 1918 while serving in the U.S. Army at Camp Upton in Yaphank, New York. In 1918, with the rise of Hitler, Berlin who was Jewish, and a first-generation European immigrant, felt it was time to revive it as a “peace song”, and it was introduced on an Armistice Day broadcast in 1938 sung by KATE SMITH, on her Radio show. The song was a hit; there was even a movement to make “God Bless America” the national anthem of the Unites States. It has been played and sung at some of our nation’s greatest gatherings.
In my mind I can still hear KATE SMITH sing that song and how thrilling it was then AND NOW!
America is the greatest nation ever on this earth. It was NOT BUILT BY ISLAM nor on the KORAN rather on the BIBLE. Take a tour through out Nation’s Capital and see the many evidences left by our founding fathers. If a person wants to believe in Islam let that person go to one of the countries of the world that follow Islam. If a person comes here that person should be willing to learn the English Language, love our Constitution, be a legal citizen, and if they do not want this…go somewhere else. I am not a ‘johnny-come-lately’, in November I will turn 89, I have been around awhile. Our schools needs to teach AMERICAN HISTORY as it happened. Learn and love what the Mayflower meant and the standards they brought with them, the chief one was THE BIBLE. Islam nor any of the followers of that belief played any part in making our nation what is was and is. We were taught the BIBLE not the Koran. Our former leaders loved this nation and many died for it. I gave three!
years ‘plus’ of my life in the service of this nation. I left my darling wife and 10 day-old son, my family, my Church, for three years to serve the nation that I loved and still love. AMERICA IS NOT AN ISLAMIC NATION. Germans, Frenchmen, Italians, they all became AMERICANS. If anyone does not salute our Flag they do not deserve to be here.
When our Missionaries go to a foreign country, they learn that language and adhere to their customs and that is the way it ought to be here. It is said that Benjamin Franklin said, ‘Every young man ought to read the Bible.’ When I attended school the teachers read from the Bible in our classes. It is sad that in our schools today, God and the Bible are not allowed. We saluted the flag and had the ‘pledge of allegiance.’ We had prayers before all games. The presence of God was wanted and needed.
When you walk up the steps of the building which houses the U.S. Supreme Court, at the top of the building you see a row of the world’s law givers and each one is facing one in the middle, who is facing forward with a full fronted view. It is MOSES and he is holding the TEN COMMANDMENTS. As you enter the Supreme Court courthouse, the two Hugh oak doors have the TEN COMMANDMENTS engraved on each portion of each door. There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington, D.C. Fifty-two of the founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox Churches in the colonies and the list goes
on and on. ISLAM played no part in all of this. Our nation has slipped so far and is slipping more each passing year. With the acceptance of ‘same-sex marriages,’ the homosexual and lesbian we are looking God in the face and telling Him, ‘we don’t care what you teach or think’ we will do our own thing. It has creeped into our Military, our Universities and Colleges, and even our Government. This is a slap in what this nation was founded on and above all ‘IT IS A DIRECT CHALLENGE TO THE GOD OF THE UNIVERSE.’
Two times in my life I have looked at the Statue of Liberty. When we returned from Europe after V.E. Day, the Captain of our Ship docked and the next morning, a beautiful morning, there was that majestic STATUE OF LIBERTY. Soldiers wept openly as we saw that. One day I was flying my plane into New York, I called Center and asked if I could fly by and circle the STATUE. Permission was granted and I flew a tight circle around THE STATUE and said to myself, ‘THANK GOD FOR AMERICA.’
As I listened to the reports that the NAVY SEALS had done their job on ‘Osama Bin Laden’ again I thanked God for our Military. How well I remember Pearl Harbor and when we faced two great enemies and we won. I was in the Military and I was free to preach from the Bible, not the Koran, and people were saved. I put up a Tent in France and the tent was packed and I PREACHED BIBLE TRUTHS and soldiers knelt in prayer asking to be saved. President Obama did not bring Bin Laden down. It was all the planning that had gone on for years. He just happened to be there. How blind American people are, his approval rating went up 11 percent. He did give the final order.
I told Wana the other day, ‘I must write this article.’ This is my belief, if you want to be here become an AMERICAN. Love it or leave it. I still like the song, ‘God bless America.’ I wish we could sing it with all the feeling that KATE SMITH had when she sang. God made America what it is and without Him we will go down.
Oh, how we need an old-fashioned ‘HOLY SPIRIT’ revival. It has been a hundred years since this nation has experienced a GREAT MOVE OF GOD…NATIONALLY. We need God called, Spirit filled and Bible believing PREACHERS. Our greatest need is GOD. Islam and the Koran is not the answer, it is God, NOT ALLAH that will save America. After living near 89 years I think I am qualified to make such a statement. Thank God that I have seen this nation when it was different than it is now. GOD BLESS AMEICAN, LAND THAT I LOVE.
A MILITARY STORY: W W 11 was over May 8, 1945. We were at the edge of Austria. We were in an old castle and that morning we were swimming, while in the water we were fired on. That evening we went house to house…searching for the gunman. I was in a house and a friend of mine was in the other room. He met a beautiful young lady and demanded sex. I was standing at the door and saw this. He had his pistol drawn and threatened to shoot. She looked at him and said, “Shoot if you wish but I am a CHRISTIAN and attend the Lutheran Church. I am a virgin and plan to stay a virgin.” He dropped his gun, turned white and backed out. I said to him, why don’t you shoot her? He said, ‘that is not funny’. Several years passed and one morning I received a call from a Truck Stop. The voice said, ‘Preach, do you remember me?’ I did and met him for breakfast and he asked to lead in prayer, I said, ‘it is good to hear you pray. When did you get saved?’ He said do you remember th!
at time in that house, I said, yes. He said, I could see that lady saying I am a virgin. I got saved and now am a Deacon in the FBC of my city. She is in heaven, I suppose, and never knew what her refusal to submit to that soldier meant. Some day in heaven a lot of things that we did not know will be revealed.
